Dr. Richard O. Brouse — Founder

Dr. Richard Brouse founded the Health Education Corporation in 1990.  The purpose was to provide a way to educate his patients on wellness and prevention related topics.  This is done through a combination of lectures (available on CD & DVD), Books, Courses of Study and Live Seminars.

The Northwest Academy of Practical Nutrition was founded by Dr. Richard Brouse in 2003 to meet the need for a certification program in practical nutrition.   Dr. Brouse was asked by his patients and other healthcare providers to design a streamlined course of study which taught philosophy and practical concepts beyond the curriculum taught at the college level.  Through measurable objectives and examination, students may become certified at three levels of competency.   The curriculum is updated on a continuous basis.   An important feature of the academy is the development of a collaborative alumni who function collectively through forums and a nutritional wici-pedia.  The academy is staffed by Chiropractic Physicians also trained in Nutrition, Bio-Chemistry, and who serve as Professional Educators in various educational institutions.

Dr. Richard Brouse founded the Sunnyside Health Center and Chiropractic Clinic in 1977.  Since that time, many thousands of people in the United States, Canada, South America and Europe have regained a greater quality of life through health while following his recommendations.  In the 30 years Dr. Brouse has been advising and treating patients, the Build A Better You Wellness Evaluation (B.A.B.Y.) soon to be available online as the Advanced Bionutritional Laboratory Evaluation (A.B.L.E.) evolved.  This is a method of testing, which identifies the weaknesses and strengths of ten body systems through blood, urine, diet, lifestyle and symptomology.   A written report of findings is produced by Dr. Brouse, based on nutritional laboratory test data and patient lifestyle characteristics and symptoms which guides the individual to make wise health choices.  This evaluation serves as a benchmark in the journey towards health restoration and disease prevention.

Karen Cole

Karen has known the Brouses for over thirty years.  When Dr. Brouse graduated and was ready to begin his practice, it was Karen who was a key component in the creation of Sunnyside Health Center's practices and policies to reflect his philosophy.  Her past experience in a wide variety of medical and dental offices guided Sunnyside Health Center to be the honest and personable clinic that it is today.   Karen returned to Sunnyside Health Center in 2003 where she served as the Patient Services Coordinator, and in 2005, Karen transferred from Sunnyside Health Center to Health Education Corporation to provide the same service and integrity through education of health and wellness.  Karen fully embraces Dr. Brouse's mission and vision for health education.

It has been a challenging experience in growth for Karen at Health Education Corporation.  Learning to visualize and work online has been an exercise in adaptation.  Customers and colleagues have generously exercised patience, humor and understanding which has been most helpful in the transition.

Karen does a brilliant job in a wide variety of responsibilities to provide service to our ever-increasing devoted clientele.  One of her main responsibility is maintaining Dr. Brouse's lecture schedule and calendar of events.  This includes Local Lectures, Tele-Clinic, and National Seminars.  Karen offers her assistance and expertise both online and by phone for Courses and the sale of CD's, DVD's & Books.  Karen not only cares for the education of our customers but also their health and well being.  For this reason, Karen guides her clients to the Build A Better You Wellness Evaluation (B.A.B.Y) program (soon to be Advanced Bio-Nutritional Laboratory Evaluation - A.B.L.E.), which allows Dr. Brouse to test for the parameters of health; done through the mail and, in the near future, online.  Karen continues to serve as Advisor to Sunnyside Health Center and is a true asset in every facet of her work.

In 2001, Karen furthered her education in Rapid Eye Technology (RET), with over two years of training, 4 days of testing, and over 100 hours of practical work, Karen is certified as a Master Rapid Eye Technologist, the highest certification available.  RET is a safe natural process to release stress, trauma and negativity from the sub-conscious.  Through the RET process's and Life Skills Training, new choices can be made & lifestyle patterns developed to support the new direction of your life.  Lifestyle patterns of interaction need to be addressed as well as making new choices, otherwise, we will revert back to what is familiar even though it does not support the direction of our lives in the present.

Larry Cutting

Larry recently joined the Health Education Corporation Team, as a Web Designer.  His experience is an asset to the team in developing many exciting new services and additions to our web sites to include transitioning to online lectures, courses of study and, in the near future, patient testing.   When the Web Design Projects are complete, he will serve as our Web-Master.

Larry comes from a varied background of several industries and occupations with a career main stay as a 25-year Safety & Environmental Professional.  He holds three professional certifications which signifies him as a leader amongst his peers within the oil, construction and consulting industries.

In the mid 70's, he began in the medical field as a Red Cross instructor for Basic and Advanced First-Aid and then, as a Red Cross & American Heart Assn. instructor for CPR.  Larry next became a Colorado State Certified and Nationally Registered EMT providing volunteer services in a remote mountain town.  He later applied and was accepted into Paramedic school but due to his work location was unable to take advantage of this opportunity.

In the early 90's, with health concerns of his own, Larry started doing research into natural alternative disciplines.  He sought out Health Care Professionals interested in guiding him in his pursuit of health from a natural perspective.  Currently, the Shaklee products and opportunity are making a difference in his life.

In the late 90's Larry's interests expanded into Web Design and network administration and were a perfect compliment to his many years of experience working with computers.  His natural aptitude and skill in this area will be valuable in the development of our systems.
