Shaklee’s book “A Study Course in Nutrition.” Since
that time, Dr. Brouse has embraced the Shaklee philosophy
and attempted to further the work of Dr. Shaklee in his

Dr. Daniel Brouse
Daniel Brouse received his Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry
and Biophysics at Oregon State University. His study
program included one year of studies (in biochemistry)
at Lancaster
University in England. Daniel minored in chemistry,
and studied nutrition, and psychology as significant portions
of his curriculum. He received his Doctorate in Chiropractic
from Western States Chiropractic College.
Daniel spent his
first year as a chiropractor in a primary-care holistic
practice in La Grande, Oregon. During that time he
advised and treated
awide variety of patients. He was accepted as a Certified
Clinical Nutritionist by the International and American
Association of Clinical Nutritionists and became board

When it became time
to move on from his associateship in LaGrande, Daniel
joined the practice at Sunnyside Health Center. At
Sunnyside Daniel had the opportunity to work with patients
with an
even wider variety of health conditions. He also
had the opportunity to collaborate with Dr. Richard
Brouse (his father) on projects involving software
and multimedia
to help education patients about their health condition.
During that time he started teaching physical examination
procedures to students at Western States Chiropractic
College.
After a few years into practice Daniel realized
that,
although practice was exciting and rewarding, his
heart was in teaching. He continued his teaching
at the chiropractic college and started teaching biological
science
at Mt. Hood
Community College. He also started looking
for a more permanent teaching position in an area
that would
be ideal
for raising
a family. Daniel was hired as the lead instructor
of Human Anatomy & Physiology and Microbiology
by Southwestern Oregon Community College in 2002. During
his tenure at Southwestern he has developed and taught
the Human Anatomy
and Physiology, Microbiology, and Nutrition courses
and become a leader in using technology for teaching.
During
the holiday season of 2005 Richard and Daniel
started discussion
how they could use the educational technologies,
that Daniel had been using to teach college courses, to
educate people about nutrition. Since then Daniel
has been developing Health Education Corporation's online
store
and the online version of the Practical Nutrition
Classes.
